Zaatari (2015) reveal gender inequality depicted by the Syrian series Bab El-Hara through several practices. Women in the series are considered good women if they are obedient to their husbands, fathers, and/or brothers. Men are superior in this relation as they are the ones who make important decisions and discuss primary issues while women are forbidden from engaging in such events and their natural place in considered inside the house where they are not exposed to anybody who is not from the family.

This is also related to what TAM (2017) discussed about the Palestinian media outlets. Statistics showed that the appearance of women in such platforms is extremely insignificant while men are the dominant face in these media organization. In addition, women’s percentage of engaging in larger issues and decision making almost does not exist.

Therefore, these practices are all forms of patriarchy where men have higher value than women in the society. Women are considered servants solely, (Zaatari, 2015).
